    Russian Orthodox Church members wade into icy rivers and ponds to mark the upcoming Epiphany, cleansing themselves with water deemed holy for the day. (a sort of baptism).

    note…Epiphany – twelve days after Christmas; celebrates the visit of the three wise men to the infant Jesus.
